This picture is one of my favorites from my daughter's 22 month session that I did with her this week. She is such a vibrant and spirited little girl and I just loved this quote when placed beside this picture. My daughter really has taught me so much about love, patience, sacrifice and how to appreciate the little things in life all over again. I just adore her!

Friendship Session - Holly Springs, Apex, Cary Photographer

I was itching to do a creative session towards the latter part of 2011. I have always wanted to do a friendship themed photography session for fun so I asked a few of the girls that I used to co-lead a high school bible study for, if they would be my models for an afternoon. They were happy to help! I had them wear bright colors so that they would pop against the drab winter landscape and their colors really did pop perfectly! Our only obstacle of the session was the rainy weather, which we decided to use to our advantage as you will see towards the end of this post. I love creative sessions, because there is no pressure whatsoever and I get to edit how I want and at my leisure as there is no one waiting on a deadline for their pictures. I branched away from the usual style that I process my images and went with more of a haze for this session. I really like how they turned out. All in all I had a blast and these girls were SO much fun to work with. Aren't they just beautiful!! Thanks so much ladies! Can't wait to do this again.

Under normal circumstances it would be a big bummer when the rain starts to fall on a session but, this session was a creative session so we stood under a tarp when it rained too hard and ran out to snap pictures when it was raining softly. These might quite possibly be some of my favorite pictures ever to date. They just feel so cute and in the moment! Aren't these girls beautiful!

Valentine's Day Mini Sessions

Last year as Valentine's Day was approaching, I began to think about all the people in my family that I love. Some were part of a big lively family but, others were single at the time and some were widowed. Valentine's Day can be so romantic and sweet for many but, for others the day can be a bit lonely so I thought, what better way to brighten someone's day than to send them a precious picture of my little girl with a giant smile on her face, wishing them a Happy Valentine's Day. The card was such a hit last with our families that I had to do it again this year. The above picture is my little girl and she will be two in just a couple of months. Isn't she adorable. I was only able to get her to sit still because I promised her a candy afterwards. Bad Mommy...I know but, I think the end result was quite worth it don't you?:).

It was such a beautiful November day in North Carolina and a perfect day for an outdoor wedding ceremony. Brittany and Jeremy kept their wedding very simple and laid back and the setting they chose was gorgeous! Ever since I moved to North Carolina I have always told my hubby that Bass Lake would be such a tranquil place to get married. So you can imagine how excited I was to photograph a wedding there. I got to fulfill a little dream of mine so thank you Brittany and Jeremy. These two are so sweet together and it really was such a joy to photograph their special day. I got all choked up during the father daughter dance and I laughed until my face hurt when the Groom and groomsman preformed for the guests. Such a fun bunch of folks! Congrats to the beautiful couple and best wishes on your journey together as one. Here is a little overview of their sweet wedding...

I always love seeing the Groom's smile when he sees his bride for the first time.

Then everyone joined in and began to dance. I have to say this bunch was quite entertaining to photograph and to watch for that matter as they all knew the moves to different songs. I was very impressed!

And then after all that dancing it was time for cake and it was pretty cool that the Groom cut the cake with his sword!

I love photographing kids! I was tempted to take pictures of this little guy all morning but, I decided that the Bride and Groom would probably prefer me to capture their special day. ;)

I used to co-lead a bible study for these gals when they were in high school a couple of years ago. Now they are in college and since they were in town for Christmas I thought it would be fun to get a few of them together for a creative, friendship style session. I'm always getting the itch as a photographer to do something that allows me to be more creative, try new editing techniques and just to have some good ol' fashioned fun with friends. I can't wait to share more from this fun session!!

I really want to bring a little more of my personal touches to this blog so I'll start by sharing a couple pictures of our decorations this year:). I just love our stripe and polka dot wrapping paper and also love the festive cheer that simple decorations add to our foyer table. I like to stick ornaments all over the house in different places. This lovely family found me through my blog and I'm so glad that they did! It was such a pleasure to meet and photograph their sweet family and their extra sweet little girl. Their daughter and my little girl's second birthdays are a mere handful of days apart and their personalities are nearly identical which was so cool to me. Ever since I became a mom I have grown especially fond of photographing children. Don't get me wrong, it can be challenging with their short attention spans but, my oh my, the sweetness that little ones radiate makes photographing them such a rewarding challenge! They really are the most precious thing on Earth and this little girl just melted my Momma heart like butter and made me want to hurry home to my little girl so that I could give her a big hug and kiss. A New Logo

You may have noticed that I just updated my logo. I was happy with my previous logo and it served me well for the past 3 years but, lately I have been feeling that it is time to update my look with a logo that better represents my photography style and my overall spirit as a person. I love bright colors and cheerful things. I like keeping life simple and clean and this logo represents that well. I recharge by soaking up the beauty of nature around me thus having two little dandelions between my name couldn't be sweeter. Photography is such a joy for me and this logo feels joyful. So there you have it; my new logo and the story behind it. I hope you like it as much as I do!

How lucky am I that I get to photograph so many of my neighbors! I feel very blessed to have so many great friends in my neighborhood. These lovely folks asked if I would snap a few pictures of them by their Christmas tree simply for their Christmas card. This was probably the quickest and easiest session I have ever done but, quite fun. I've never actually shot a family in there home at Christmas time so this was a treat. My almost two year old daughter is absolutely smitten with their baby boy. He is such a cutie and has such beautiful, dark brown eyes. Merry Christmas Faron family!

I happen to go to church with this lovely family and I used to co-lead a bible study for high school girls which would meet in this family's home. It is always a treat to photograph people that I know because it gives me a chance to capture the essence of who they are. This family is warm, kind and laid back and I have to say that the first picture of this post captures them perfectly in my opinion. Everyone chilling on picnic benches with big smiles. My kind of bunch! They were easy as pie to photograph and I have to give their three sons kudos for being so photogenic. They rocked this session. Now that this lovely bride is married I can share her bridal pictures with you all and I'm so excited because I just love these pictures! This was such a fun session for me. The combination of the drop dead gorgeous bride, the stunning historic mill setting and the perfect evening light made for a photographer's dream shoot! Brittany was so graceful and natural which made my job a piece of cake. She brought her good friend along and the three of us had a nice time chatting and soaking up scenery. Isn't Brittany's dress beautiful. I've decided that I would want a dress just like hers if I were to do my wedding all over. I just love the cut, the lace and the bead work. A big congrats to you Brittany and thanks so much for giving me the honor of capturing your special memories!

We had already wrapped up Brittany's bridal session and we were heading back to our cars but, as I passed this spot by the lake and saw the beauty of the evening light casting a glow on the water I just had to snap a few more pictures. It was quite chilly by this point and Brittany was such a trooper to pose for a few more and I'm so thankful that she was willing because I just love these shots! Casual and a beautiful.

I met Emily for the first time while we were both waiting in line at a Wal-Mart. Being that our kiddos are close in age we began chatting while we waited to get rung up. By the end of our time in line we were exchanging phone numbers in hopes of a future play date for our kiddos. We handed each other a photo business card and in doing so, learned that we share the same love of photography. Check out her beautiful work here. We have had tons of play dates since then and I just love telling people that we met at a Wal-Mart because it goes to show that you just never know where you might make a new and wonderful friend! It was also such a pleasure to meet her hubby, Mike for the first time at this session and to see them all interact as a family and what a sweet family they are! The little man of the family was having a grand old time running around, playing with the leaves and clapping for us and speaking of clapping; little Levi has a big announcement to make.....Congrats Camp family!

I absolutely love photographing families. Their is so much silliness, so many smiles and just so much fun to capture. I know this beautiful family well because we are neighbors and they are such caring, compassionate and kind people. I feel so blessed to have them across the street from me. I photographed their family last Summer when their little girl was almost 2 and now she is 3! I know I say it all the time but, I just have to say it again; I LOVE what I do. I love chatting with families while I take their pictures. I love observing life through my little lens and snapping it up. I love looking through the images on my computer after a session and smiling back at the happy faces smiling at me. Baby Rivers | Raleigh NC newborn photographer

This five day old little girl took my breath away! Her thick dark hair, her pouty little lips, big cheeks and perfect little features were simply beautiful. She is the first child born to my good friends and I know she is going to rock their world. It was so cute to see Dad snapping pictures with his iPhone while I was shooting. He didn't want to miss an opportunity to capture his little princess either! Watch out Dad because this little girl already has you wrapped around her finger. LOL. This was my first official newborn session and I was beyond blessed by River's calm and relaxed behavior the entire time I photographed her. I posed her in a few different positions and each time she fussed for no more than a few seconds and then would immediately fall back into sweet slumber. I loved that every time she began to relax her mouth would open and her arms would fall limp by her side. Seriously, she was a dream! I learned a lot from this session and had a blast. Yes, I did feel the baby bug bite in case you are wondering. How could I not while holding such perfection? I cannot wait to shoot more newborn sessions in the future.

I just love this picture. So much joy captured on these new parent's faces.

This particular wedding will always hold a special place in my heart for a couple of reasons. This happens to be my very first wedding as the primary shooter. I cannot thank Christina enough for giving me the chance to capture her special day and also to grow as a photographer. I had such a blast! Christina and Wes are the sweetest and easiest people to work with and throughout the process of shooting their engagement pictures, Christina's bridals and now their wedding, we have gotten to know each other well and I look forward to hanging out with them in the future. I know our husband's can't wait to bass fish together. It is such a honor to be able to take pictures for people but, to also make new friends in the process is such a gift! They chose a darling little country chapel for their ceremony and their reception was held at an equally charming country banquet hall. I am also so grateful to my assistant who also happens to be a good friend, for being both moral support and an excellent second eye. There were a few moments during the afternoon and especially during the ceremony that I felt my heart flutter as I remembered the joy that I had felt on my wedding day. When Christina asked me if I would shoot her bridal session I was thrilled and even more thrilling was the chance to photograph at the gorgeous Highgrove Estate. Seriously, I would have loved to have had my wedding at this place! Christina has a very unique connection to this beautiful estate, as it was her Grandparent's house for many years and her parents were married in it back when it was still owned by their family! When I met Christina at the Highgrove her family had brought along some of her parent's wedding pictures that were taken inside by the stair case. I had the honor of recreating those shots with Christina and her Dad and it was such a neat experience! I am so grateful to the Highgrove for letting us take an afternoon to shoot on their grounds and I also need to brag about Christina for a minute. Christina is one of the sweetest gals I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. I also shot her wedding a few weeks ago and from day one she has been an absolute joy to work with as has her entire family. She truly is beautiful inside and out and made my job SO easy! These two totally rocked this session. They were so comfortable in front of the camera, gorgeous to look at and fun to shoot. I am a bit biased though as this is my sister and her hubby. lol. I absolutely love capturing love, whether it be parents with their kids, a mom with her new baby, newly wedded couples or just couples in general. There is something so special about the way love radiates through a photograph and you can definitely see it in these shots. Kinda makes me want to go grab my hubby right now and take him on a spontaneous date! Oh and you will notice that I threw in one picture with my little gal at the very end. That was the point in which she got red clay all over Tony's white shirt and thus ended our photo session. Whoops! My little girl is such a ham! I have had a camera in her face since the day she was born and as a result she seems to love showing off for me and the camera, which is fine with me since it allows me to capture such adorable pictures of her. This particular day I actually took her monthly pictures on her 16 month birthday (go me!) and at the last minute as I was running out the door to take her pictures, I grabbed her crown, wand and tutu. I am SO glad that I did because she seemed to know that she was dressed up like a princess and she wouldn't let that wand out of her hand! She swung it all over and was grinning from ear to ear while prancing around. I was melting with mommy pride to say the least. Could she be any cuter? I just love her to pieces!

These beautiful people are about to celebrate their two year anniversary in just a couple of weeks! This lovely gal pictured below happens to be my younger sister, Becca and the handsome fellow is my brother-in-law, Tony. They flew in this week for a really quick visit before they both had to jet back to California for their Fall Semester of College. I cannot begin to tell you how much I enjoyed hanging out with them and I have to add that Tony is the only man besides my husband whom my daughter seems to be smitten with. My little girl wanted Tony to give her lots of high fives, to hold her and she flirted with him all day long!

I can't get over how beautiful the pictures from this little mini-session turned out and I can't wait to share more of them with you soon!

Wes and Christina: Engagement Session - Raleigh Engagement Photographer

A few years back I met Christina while on a camping trip with some other young adults from our church. She is such a warm, kindhearted and genuinely sweet person. When she contacted me recently and asked me to shoot not only her engagement,her bridals but, also her wedding I was beyond thrilled! The best part of it all for me is getting to work with such an amazing couple. I had the pleasure of meeting Christina's fiance, Wes during this photo session and he is just as sweet and warm as her. They are simply perfect for each other in every way! This couple is fun! They brought along their glasses from when they saw Avatar in 3D together and their school mascot ornaments. Raechel and John: Maternity Session: Apex, Holly Springs, Cary Maternity Photographer

Raechel and John happen to be our next door neighbors and they are expecting their first child in June. I couldn't be more excited for them! We had planned to do this session outdoors at a gorgeous lake nearby but unfortunately, we got rained out which seems to happen a lot here in North Carolina. We decided to carry on with our session and instead stayed indoors which worked out great. I was a tad nervous because I specialize in outdoor photography and am not quite as comfortable with non-natural lighting situations. It was a great opportunity for me to get better acquainted with my flash and my new camera's higher ISO range. I was really happy with how all of these images turned out and now feel much more confident about doing future indoor sessions. Thanks for letting me capture this special time in your lives! It really was a treat and can I just add that if we ever have a boy I want to steal their owl themed bedding. I LOVE it.

Heather is a friend of my sisters and she and her boyfriend Filip wanted to get their pictures taken. Of course I was thrilled to be asked as I really enjoy couples sessions. They are so romantic, passionate and fun. Yes, lots of kissing and cuddling and I think it's great! It's pretty much like going on a date for the couple:-) This couple rocked the entire session and I got to enjoy the added bonus of photographing them with their handsome pup. I've never done a session with a beloved pet before so this was fun for me. I was so happy with how these pictures turned out but, I have to give some credit to the soft evening sunlight and an amazingly, beautiful location and even more credit to this gorgeous couple. Ashley and I met through the fantastic world of blogging! She is also a photographer and this particular evening we were supposed to attend a workshop together but, unfortunately it got rained out. Determined to make the most of the evening we packed up our camera bags and met up in downtown for a little photo session of our own. I took pictures of her and she took pictures of me which she featured on her blog. The weather ended up being perfect and we had a blast! Truthfully, we can't wait until the next time we do this. These gals are so much fun together! The bond of sisterhood is a special one which I know of first hand as I have 3 amazing sisters myself. Victoria is going to be singing and has a lead part in her conservatory production later this year. She needed some headshots and I also took a handful of shots that aren't exactly "headshots" since we had extra time. Victoria is super photogenic and has the most beautiful smile. She really glows in all of her pictures doesn't she! I took a little artistic liberty when I edited some of these shots as you can tell above. I think headshots can be fun and colorful. It makes them stand out even more! I had a great time taking these pictures for Victoria and especially enjoyed chatting with her parents during the session. They are such a sweet family!

This family was such a blast to photograph. I pretty much told them where to stand or sit and then let them interact and do their thing and they were awesome. Their little gal Lila is a month older than my daughter and we all go to the same church. When my hubby and I were new to NC, we attended our church for the first time and the Hege family came up and greeted us and made us feel so welcome and even went out to lunch with us afterwards. We've been friends ever since and now we are looking forward to all the adventures as our girls grow up together! Such a treat.

This gorgeous girl is my younger sister. She came out and visited me in North Carolina this past week and I couldn't wait to take pictures of her. She was so comfortable in front of the camera and as a result, I had an absolute blast photographing her!

These are my little girl's four month pictures. She was such a champ about letting me stick her in a cute basket. There is something about babies in baskets that makes me smile:-). I can't believe how fast my little one is growing!

I have to say that having my own child to take pictures of on a daily basis has been such a blast! I get to dress her up, pose her and practice camera techniques all the time. I am lucky that she is so patient but, I doubt that will last much longer:). My little girl will be 8 weeks old in just a handful of days. These were some of my favorite pictures of her first 2 months. Stay tuned for many, many more!

Here are some pictures of cutie pie Boston and a couple with his lovely family. I absolutely love the garden where these pictures were taken. There really isn't a single place in the garden that isn't a prime spot for a picture and B's parents did an awesome job of trying to get B to smile and laugh throughout the shoot which is no easy task with a 3 year old:). haha Thanks you guys! I had a great time!

Lovely Miss Chris

Chris is one of the gals in a high school bible study that I co-lead. We did these pictures for her senior year portfolio. I really enjoy photographing teenagers (who want their picture taken) because they are easy to pose, tend to have natural poise in front of the camera and are just all around fun! Chris is gorgeous! Every picture turned out great but, these are some of my favorites!

These are my neighbors and their little boy is Vinnie who you may recognize from a photo session a while back. He has grown so much since the first time I took pictures of him earlier this year. Now he is sitting up on his own, laughing up a storm and making all kinds of cute and silly faces at my camera. He's a blast to photograph and his mom and dad are truly the sweetest people you'll ever meet!

Last Monday I got to take family pictures for some friends from church. They were so great about sitting wherever I wanted them and posing however I wanted and they also had lots of great ideas too! It's so fun to watch a family engage and interact with each other. I love happy families!

Who would have thought that taking pictures with my hubby could be so much fun? It took us a tiny bit to warm up to the camera but, once we did we had a great time and were able to capture some really nice, creative shots. Enjoy our photo adventure!

I have decided that the best way to loosen people up during a photo shoot is to give them a prop to play with:). The results always crack me up, especially when the subject in focus is my husband. Bless his heart, he put up with me taking his picture for an hour which allowed me try out some new techniques with my camera. He's such a good sport. Much more to come! lol.

I spent this past weekend visiting my good friend Elissa and her two little boys who are too stinking cute! Elissa's husband is overseas serving for our country and I can't wait until he gets back so I can take some family reunion pictures for them! I had the privilege of taking some pictures for this mama inside her home as well as at a beautiful beach that is right around the corner from her house. Plus, I got to hold her cute little baby and play with her hilarious toddler. What could be better? Thanks for the laughs Elissa. I miss you already!

This family responded to an add I placed on Craigslist and what a beautiful and happy family to photograph they were! Mama was 8 months preggo here and was just as gorgeous as ever! The two older kids were such sweet hearts and did whatever I asked and were little camera hams. The youngest cutie pie wasn't interested in posing at all. He was a crack up. I took these pictures a few months back of my dear friend Elissa while our families vacationed together at a cabin for the holiday. She is such a kindred spirit and it was such a treat to get some pictures of her beautiful and pregnant. She has since had an adorable little baby boy who I can't wait to take pictures of!

My Better Half

My husband looks so serious in most of these pictures, but to be honest he is the furthest thing from serious in person and anyone who has known him for more than 5 minutes would agree. I took these pictures while we vacationed in the Dominican Republic for our 5 year anniversary this May 09. I was pretty happy with how sharp they turned out. Hope you like em' too!

Travis and Annie - Engagement pics

These two are neighbors of mine. They are getting married in November of this year so I asked if I could take some engagement pictures for them and they happily accepted my offer. They are so cute together and I think that shows through in these pictures. I feel very blessed to have so many wonderful neighbors. Congrats on the engagement guys!

Little Vinnie

This little guy was a piece of cake to photograph. He was such a happy baby and just loved staring at the strange camera hovering in his face which made my job that much easier! His mama is also a joy to work with and just so happens to be a wonderful neighbor of mine. I have to say that this is one of the first photo sessions I ever did. My neighbor was more than willing to let me try out my camera and fiddle with my manual settings while she and Vinnie tried out different poses. I'm so grateful to them for giving me a confidence boost in my photography journey! Thanks for making my job so easy you two:-)
